Married William James, 15 Jun 1835, St Nocholas Parish, Pinvin, Worcester, England. Children: Martha James, Emma James, Reuben James, George James, John Parley James, Sarah James, Jane James, Mary Ann James.
Married Matthew Maude, 1861, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. Child: William Moroni Maude.
William and Jane James had started for Zion with eight children. Their youngest child died on the voyage and William died on Rocky Ridge. Jane led the rest of her children safely to Zion. Only 13-year-0ld Reuben, who had nearly frozen to death with his father on Rocky Ridge, suffered injuries that troubled him for the rest of his life.
After they arrived in Salt Lake City Jane moved into an unfurnished shack in Springville, where she kept her youngest children alive until spring with what work she could find.
After a year in Springville, Jane and her younger children moved to Salt Lake City for four years. While there, Jane remarried. The marrige lasted only briefly, however, as her husband soon left both the Church and Jane, who was expecting a child at the time. When the baby was born, Jane named him William, after her husband who had died on Rocky Ridge.
Soon Jane moved back to Utah County, where she lived the rest of her life. She died at the age of 96, having spent nearly all of her 55 years in Zion as a widow.

We miss thee from our home mother,
We miss thee from thy chair.
Our home is dark without thee,
We miss thee everywhere.
