Obituary:
Mark Kenyon, age 20, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kenyon of Gary, drowned in a boating accident at Lake Cochrane on Sunday afternoon, July 11, 1976.
He was born November 2, 1955 at Clear Lake. He grew up and attended schools in Gary. For the past four years he has been employed as a farm hand at the Melvin Peterson farm northwest of Gary. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Gary. He is survived by his parents of Gary; four brothers: Melvin of Altamont, Terry of Gary, and Bruce and Dan, both at home; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Keimig of Gary; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Sophie Kenyon of Gary; and six nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 15,1976 from the Gary United Methodist Church with Rev. Boyd Blumer of Aberdeen officiating. Mrs. Harry Olsen and her daughter, Jan, sang "What A Friend we have in Jesus" and "Nearer My God To Thee" accompanied by Mr. Robert Gage at the organ. Burial was in the Grand View cemetery at Gary. Honorary pallbearers were Roger Hook, Mike Nosbush, David Peterson, Darwin Munsch, Keith Koerlin, Kenny Koerlin, Leon Kaiser, Doug Nelson, Melvin Pieper, Darwin Engesser, Steve Fritz and Melvin Maas. Active pallbearers were Jerry Peterson, Fred Leonards Jr., Neil Schumacher, Eldon Peterson, Melvin Adolph and Eugene Adolph. All other friends and relatives were considered honorary casket bearers. Eng's Funeral Home of Clear Lake directed the funeral arrangements.
