June 11, 1970, Mr. Elmer Harman was killed and his wife and daughter were injured when their car was hit by a steel truck Thursday night on W. Fourth Street in Ontario.

Dead on arrival at Mansfield General Hospital was Elmer Harman, 56 of Mill Road, Loudonville. His wife Adele, 56, and daughter, Paula, 15, are both listed in fair condition at the hospital. Mrs. Harman is in intensive care.

Both vehicles were apparently heading west on W. Fourth at the time and the truck was attempting to pass the car while the car was making a left turn. The truck struck the left side of the car, totally demolishing the vehicle.

The steel truck went off the North side of the street spilling its load. The Harman car came to rest sideways in the middle of the street.

The accident completely blocked U.S. 30 S for 20 minutes after the 8:55 p.m. accident. The street was blocked for another two hours, backing traffic up for about two miles in each direction.

Harman was a warehouse forman at the Sunshine Biscuit Co. where he had been employed for 29 years.

Mr. Harman was born Dec. 18, 1913 in Alton, W. Va.
Survivors include his wife Adele and daughter Paula; three brothers, Emerson of Mansfield, and Ira and Jay of Buckhannon, W. VA.; two sisters, Mrs. Lela Hyra also of Buckhannon, and Mrs. Olene Cockrill of Orlando, Fla.
