Vessie Adele Samples Harman, 88, died Friday morning, May 24, 2002, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital.

Mrs. Harman was born in Heaston Ridge, West Virginia, on February 4, 1914 to James and Effie Buchanan Samples. On December 18, 1940, she married Elmer Harman. They came to Loudonville, Ohio in the 1940's, after Elmer's death, she moved to Mansfield, Ohio in 1972. She worked at the Flour Mill in Loudonville, King's Department Store and Ben Franklin Store in Mansfield. Vessie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Loudonville and attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Mansfield.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Harman; her dog Simmy; one sister Maxine Miller; several nieces and nephews; a special three-month old great-great nephew, Avery; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law Emerson Harman; a sister like friend, Margaret.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer Harman; six brothers, Marion, Bryan, Jay, Garnet, Billy Haul and Eli; four sisters, Eula, Lydia, Geneva and an infant sister; sister like friend, Marcia Patton.
