Actor. Born to Jewish parents, he may be best remembered as Mindy McConnell's father Frederick on television's "Mork & Mindy." He was discovered by a talent scout while performing on Broadway in 1945. A short time after his discovery he made his film debut in "Snafu." In his 67-year career from 1945 until 2012 he had roles in over 30 production, some of which included "Get Smart" (1965), "Airport 1975" (1974), "Brewster's Millions" (1985), "The Cable Guy" (1996) and "Bad Blood" (2012). Besides being an actor he was also a musician, playing the trombone. In the late 1970s, he formed his own band named the Beverly Hills Unlisted Jazz Band and they performed on the "Tonight Show" and had 8 sold-out shows at Carnegie Hall. He had 2 children and had been married 3 times; his last wife passed away in 2021.
