Services were held Tuesday, January 25 for long time Escalon resident, Norman J. Stone, 80 who passed away after a long illness on Thursday January 20 in Manteca.

Norman was born June 24, 1930, in Woodward Oklahoma, to Ollie Stone and Beatrice Edwards Stone.

Mr. Stone came with his family to California in 1944 when they purchased property on South Sexton Road in Escalon, where he lived and worked on local farms for many years.

Norman served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. After his discharge he returned to Escalon and worked on many local dairies. Looking for stability in his career, Norman took a job at Hormel Corp. in Stockton. After several years he retired, returning to Escalon where he enjoyed going to flea markets and the races, fishing, cutting firewood and spending time with his children.

In addition to his parents his siblings, Jewell Gray, Dallas, Rufus, Don and James Stone, preceded him in death. Survivors include siblings Louella Tune of Escalon, George Stone of Newman and John Stone of Redding, his children, Dwayne and Donnie Fisher, Tina Milan and Janice Stone-Lynch and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204-1953, Disabled American Veterans Charities of San Joaquin, 10100 Trinity Parkway, Suite 310, Stockton, CA 95219, or a charity of ones choice.
