Mrs. MITCHELL, mother of Hartington Folks Dies at the Parmely Home

Mrs. Diantha MITCHELL, mother of several residents of Hartington and herself a resident of this community for many years, passed away Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John PARMELY. She was aged 84 years, 9 months and 24 days at the time of her death.
Mrs. MITCHELL was the mother of Mrs. PARMELY, Mrs. Ira PORTER, Mrs. Joe BEEMS and Sam MITCHELL, all of Hartington, and of Mrs. Rose JACKSON of Sioux City, and Mrs. W. M. KREPPS, of Avon, ILL., both of whom are here for the funeral. She also has two daughters in California and Wyoming, who are unable to be here for the funeral.
Funeral services will be held from the PARMELY home Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Rev. S. A. Willard, of the congregational church, will be in charge. Interment will be in the Hartington Cemetery.

DEATH of GRANDMA MITCHELL
Mrs. Dianthia MITCHELL, one of the oldest and most highly esteemed pioneers of this city, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. E. PARMELY, here on Wednesday morning at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 24 days. Mrs. MITCHELL had been in rapidly failing health for about a year and death was due to the infirmities of age.
Mrs. MITCHELL's death was not unexpected and the following children were at her bedside when the end came: Mrs. W. M. KREPS, Avon, Ill., Mrs. Rose JACKSON, Sioux city, Mrs. Joe BEEMS, Randolph, Mrs. Ira PORTER, Mrs. J. E. PARMELY and Sam MITCHELL of Hartington.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 3:30 from the PARMELY home. Rev. S.A. Willard will conduct the services, and interment will be made in the Hartington cemetery.

Mrs. MITCHELL LAID TO REST
The funeral of the late Mrs. Diantha MITCHELL, who died last week, was held on Friday afternoon from the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. E. PARMERLY. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. S. A. Willard, pastor of the Congregational church, and Mrs. F. O. Robinson and Mrs. Willard sang two hymns, Sun of My Soul and He Knows.
Interment was made in the Hartington cemetery beside the body of her husband, who was laid to rest some years ago.
The pallbearers were C. M. Jones, S. H. Morten, G. E. Anderson, I. O. Bingham, D. E. Dwing and H. J. Sorensen.
Mrs. Diantha MITCHELL aged 84 years, 9 months and 24 days, died at the home of her daughter Delphia M. PARMELY, on January 31, 1923 after an illness of a year and four months. Her death was due to old age and complications, and she was a patient suffer though it all.
Diantha OGDEN was born in Avon, Ills. and in the year 1857 she was united in marriage to John MITCHELL. To this union, were born 10 daughters and two sons, of whom seven daughters and one son are left to mourn their loss. The husband and father passed away about 16 years ago.
In the year 1881, the family moved from Illinois to Defiance, Iowa and resided on a farm there until the year 1898, when Mr. and Mrs. MITCHELL with the children then at home moved to Cedar county, Nebraska, purchasing the farm on which they lived until Mr. MITCHELL's death in 1907. Then one year later purchased a home in Hartington, where she has since resided until death.
Grandma MITCHELL, as she was familiarly called, was a noble Christian woman, ever ready to lend a helping hand, and was a true friend and loved by all who knew here. She was very industrious and enjoyed doing needlework until her last illness.
Following are the names of surviving children, Sam MITCHELL, Mrs. Delphia M. PARMELY and Mrs. Lorena PORTER of Hartington; Mrs. Rosella JACKSON of Sioux City, Mrs. Lillous KREPS of Avon, Ills.; Mrs. Amanda HITTLE of Boulder, Wyo.; Mrs. Laura WEST of Los Angles; and Mrs. Eva BEEMS of Randolph. There also are surviving 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Alex MITCHELL of Defiance, Iowa and Albert MITCHELL and wife of Thurston were also present at the funeral. *Note Died 31 Jan 1923, Hartington, NE.
