The former Alice Brege died Friday (Oct. 5, 1990) in Newfane Inter-Community Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Baker, formerly of Ketchum Avenue, had worked for 27 years at the Lockport hospital before her retirement in 1965 and had served as a supervisor on both medical and surgical floors.
Active in church and community organizations, she was named "Woman of the Year" in 1965 by the Newfane Business and Professional Women's Club.
She was a past matron of Newfane Chapter 743, Order of the Eastern Star, and a past noble grand of Cheer Rebekah Lodge. She also had served on the board of the Methodist Church and was a member of the Newfane Home Arts Club.
She was the widow of Marcus Carlton and Joel Baker.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Phillips Shaver and Ruth Phillips; a brother, Kermit H. Brege of Middleport; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
