Son of Thomas Bengree and Elizabeth Mason.

George was born and grew up at The Bell Inn, in Yarpole, Herefordshire, where his father was the innkeeper, he was also a farmer.

He enlisted into the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) on the 11th December 1915 at Leominster, Herefordshire.

George was killed in action aged 32.
