She is survived by:
Sons: Wendell Burch of McKinney, Texas; Jimmy Burch of Douglas, Ga.
Daughter-in-law Fran Burch of Mckinney, TX.
Grandchildren: Brian Burch (Bobbi Ann) of Frisco, TX; Becki Burch Girouard (Steve) of Melissa, TX; Jamie Burch of TX.
Great Grandchildren: Trace Burch Girouard, Ava Burch, Ty Girouard, and Greyson Burch.
She was married to Leon Burch for 70 years, until his death. She was preceded in death by husband Leon Burch, her parents, Alice Fussell Merritt and Carlos Merritt, and two brothers, Otis Merritt and C J Merritt.
Mrs. Burch retired from South Georgia College where she served in the personnel office, and was co-owner of Burch Insurance Agency. She was an active Member of First Baptist Church, Douglas for over 70 years. A true Southern Lady. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, Mr. Leon, her family, her community and her Church. She was a great cook, especially homemade buttermilk biscuits.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 11:00AM, at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home. The interment followed at the Douglas City Cemetery.
Due to the Covid-19 Virus and emerging variants, Sims Funeral Home Inc. required all customers, guests, and attendees to wear medical grade masks at all times while in our facility, as well as social distancing.
