Married James Bogle 31 Dec 1816 at Champaign County, Ohio.
The following excerpt from A History Of Clay County, Indiana referred to grandson Jerome Bogle:
"The Bogle family came originally from Virginia, both the great¬ grandfather and grandfather of Jerome being natives of Wythe county. The former was Ralph Bogle, whose wife was a sister of Richard Henry Lee, and the latter, James Bogle, the younger man being born January 16, 1796, and dying June 22, 1879. The grandfather married Miss Mary Clemens, born September 29, 1793, who died in Indianapolis, Indiana, on the 1st of November, 1866. The great-uncle of our subject, Rev John Bogle, was a well-known circuit rider of the M. E. church. His son, the uncle, was a soldier of the Confederacy, and was attached to the body guard of the famous cavalry officer, General John H. Morgan. In 1863 he participated in the historic raid into Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana, and was with General Morgan when he was captured. Mr. Bogle escaped by swimming the Ohio river, his superior officer being confined in the Ohio penitentiary for some time before his escape."
The above should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt, however there are glimmers of truth within...
At the time of Polly's death, she was visiting with her son Ralph who was residing in Indianapolis in 1866. Unfortunately no confirmed burial site has been located to date. Research is ongoing, please check back.
Polly's brother-in-law was the Rev John Bogle, the M E circuit rider.
The last known record of Polly was the 1860 census, in which she and husband James were living with son William Henry Bogle and his family. By the 1870 census, James is still living with William but Polly is not listed.
