Jonathan is the son of Isaac Groh & Mary Wanner. He married Elizabeth Bechtel ( 1863 - 1889) on Mar 10, 1885. After Elizabeth died in 1889, he married Maria Mutchenbaker ( 1861-1928) on Mar 25, 1891 at her family home at Rosseau Falls, Muskoka. They had 5 children together, Rosco, Wilfred, Clarence, Effie and Arnold. Jonathan and Maria lived in Waterloo then operated a store / post office at Shallow Lake, Grey County before moving and settling in West Gravenhurst On.
Sadly their son Clarence drowned at age 5 after falling off of the Mutchenbaker family boat.
Jonathan died of uremia caused by chronic nephritis.
