Mrs. Smith was born September 28, 1927, in Hope Township in rural Lostant to Robert and Minnie (Post) Gray. She married Marion N. Smith on August 30, 1944, in Lacon, Illinois. Mrs. Smith worked at Indiana General in Oglesby. She was a member of the Lostant United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star and was very active at the Putnam County Senior Center. Mrs. Smith was an avid card player and loved going to flea markets.
She is survived by her two daughters, Donna (Steve) Laugal and Lori (Duane) Markley both of Lostant; three sons, Charles (Ruth) Smith of Wenona, Leonard (Connie) Smith of Bourbonnais, and Jack Smith of Lostant; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marion N. "Beaner" on May 26, 2009; her sister, Emma Witek; and two brothers, Robert and James Gray.
