James M. Gray, 85, of Dalzell, passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at home.

Memorial services will be 7:00 PM Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Mueller Funeral Home in Peru with Rev. Betty Delgado, pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the Peru Veterans Memorial Group. Private burial will be in Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gray was born August 29, 1931 in Lostant to Robert and Anna (Post) Gray. He married Lora Jane Williams on January 12, 1952 at the LaSalle Baptist Church in LaSalle.

Mr. Gray was a veteran of the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant and serving on the front line during the Korean War.

Survivors include five children, James (Annette) Gray of Cape Coral, FL, Cynthia (David) Weberski of Spring Valley, Debra (Mark) Vitale of Dalzell, Brian Gray of Dalzell and Jeffrey (Maria) Gray of Aurora; seven grandchildren, Anna, Michelle, Michael, Alicia, Josh, Nicole and Vanessa; four great-grandchildren, Geno, Liam, Savannah and Sienna and one sister, Esther Smith of Lostant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lora Jane on May 21, 2013; one son, Dennis; one grandson, Cody; one sister, Emma Witek and one brother, Robert.
