Charlotte Emily Ludwig (Swanson), 86, of Sauk Rapids, MN died January 24, 2022, at her Ridgeview Assisted Living facility home.

Charlotte Swanson was born January 11, 1936, in Fargo, North Dakota to David and Selma Swanson.

She attended High School in Fargo, ND. She continued her education at Grand Forks, ND Nursing School. She graduated from the school with her nursing degree.

She married Donald Edward Ludwig on September 28th 1957, and was married until his passing on April 19th, 1991. Together they had four children: Sheryl A. Grunau (Ludwig) Woodbury, MN, David R. Ludwig Superior, WI, Jane M. Comiskey (Ludwig) deceased, and Donald P. Ludwig Saint Cloud, MN.

Charlotte worked as a RN, and also took on the role of Director of Nursing. She worked at Lutheran Manor nursing home in Sioux Falls, SD as an RN. Later she spent many years as the Director of Nursing at Bethesda nursing home in Willmar, MN. Nursing was her life and she enjoyed helping others.

She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and socializing with friends and family. She always had a smile on her face and enjoyed meeting new people. She really enjoyed traveling and went on many adventures with her sister Avis, who she dearly loved and missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Selma Swanson, father David Swanson, sister Avis Flint (Swanson), infant sister Janet A. Swanson, husband Donald E. Ludwig, and daughter Jane M. Comiskey (Ludwig).

She was survived by her children, Sheryl Grunau, David Ludwig, and Donald Ludwig. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she truly enjoyed to be with.

A memorial gathering will be scheduled for the Spring of 2022, followed by burial at Oak Mound Cemetery in Moorhead, MN.
