FRANCES BASIL, age 87, a long time resident of Dryden, NY passed away Sunday, February 6, 2005 at Lakeside Nursing Home in the presence of her loving family. She had been in a period declining health since last fall. She was born Bonnie Frances Basil on July 5, 1917 at Colorado City, Texas. She was introduced to her husband to be, John Basil, Jr. during WW II while he was stationed in Texas for basic training. When John returned to Dryden in 1946 they were married and resided there until Mr. Basil died in 1995. Frances was employed at the Cornell Dairy Bar in Stocking Hall for 22 years. She was a life member of Unit 1134, Ladies Auxiliary of the Leonard T. Spaulding Post, American Legion. Years ago she was an avid bowler. Known to her grandchildren as "Gam", she was always there for her family and is remembered for her baking, crocheting and being a steady and reliable influence in the family. If love shared is love increased, then our Gam greatly increased the love in this world.
Survivors include her children, Lynda L. (Daniel) Cordova of Balinger, TX, Jim W. (Diane) Basil of Dryden, Cynda L. (Jim) Farnham of Dryden, Brynda S. (Jerry, Sr.) Beeman of Spencer, NY; a step-son, John (Mary) Basl of Freeville; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins. Mrs. Basil was the preceded in death by her husband, John Basil, Jr.; a son, Jack Basil and a great-grandson, Ryan Nagel.
Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Vern E. Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden when the weather permits. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 3 PM Wednesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Those wishing to remember Mrs. Basil are asked to consider a memorial to the Dryden Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 397, Dryden, NY 13053-0397.
