Gale C. Faulkner, 72, of Arkansas City, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at the Via Christi Medical Center-St. Joseph Campus of Wichita. Memorial graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday (March 18, 2002) at the Parker Cemetery. The Reverend Steve Chambers will officiate. Cremation has been effected.
Gale was born September 26, 1929 in Arkansas City to Dale and Tillie Irene (Blakeley) Faulkner. He was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City high School in 1948. Gale served in the United States Navy for many years retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1976. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Bronze Star, and numerous Good Conduct Medals.
Gale married Edna (Slavens) Turney on August 26, 1974 in Arkansas City. The couple has made their home in Arkansas City all their married lives. Gale was a member of the Central Christian Church, the Shelton Beaty Post #18 American Legion and the Spencer-Ralston Post #1254 V.F.W.

Survivors include his wife Edna of the home; one son David Michael Faulkner and one daughter Cheryl Lynn Blenz both of Arkansas City; one brother Charles Faulkner of Huntington Beach, California; one sister Carolyn Hirschi of Sanger, Texas; three step-sons Glenn Turney of Arkansas City, Steve Turney of Upland, California, and Larry Turney of Arkansas City; one step-daughter Donna Sybrant of Arkansas City; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Steven Dale Faulkner.

Memorials have been established with the Ark City Recreation Commission and the American Lung Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Arrangements are being made by the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
