Plan Rites for Man Killed By Falling Log Jasper "Roy" Bradburn Fatally Injured While Working at His Sawmill in Monon MONON, Ind. -- Jasper L.' "Roy" Bradburn., 53, who suffered fatal injuries while loading logs at his sawmill here Sunday, will be buried in the Monon cemetery Wednesday after services at 2 p. m. the Nickler funeral home.
Mr. Bradburn was Injured about noon Sunday when a log fell from a truck striking him on the shoulder and pinning him to the ground. He and other employes were loading logs at the time.
He was rushed to the St. Elizabeth hospital in Lafayette where examination revealed that five ribs had been broken with two puncturing his lungs. His condition grew steadily worse and he died about 9:30 p. m. Sunday.
Born Oct. 16, 1895 in White county, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Bradburn. His first wife preceded him in death. Mr. Bradburn had lived in South Bend nearly 25 years but returned to White county two years ago to start a saw mill southeast of Monticello. On July 28. 1949, he moved to Monon to establish the mill where he was fatally Injured.
Surviving are his second wife, Marie; three children by his first marriage: Mrs. Esther Steel and Marjorie Vernon, Michigan;- and Mary Alice Bradburn, California; seven children by his second marriage; Mrs. Ruth Marie Jones, Monon; Roy. South Bend; Rilla Juna, Peggy Jane. Patty Ann, Daniel Richard, at home. He also Is survived by his parents, four brothers. Orval, Fred, Albert and Oscar; and two sisters. Mrs. Edna Spencer and Mrs. Vallarle Britten, South Bend.
