Dr. Claude A. Almand Dies; Retired VA Medical Director


Dr. Claude A. Almand, retired southeastern medical director for the Veterans Administration, died Tuesday.


Dr. Almand, formerly of Pensacola, Fla., had been assodicated with the Veterans Administration for more than 40 years. Prior to joining the staff of the VA, he practiced pediatrics in Atlanta for a few years.


He graduated from Emory University and earned his medical degree at the Emory School of Medicine. Dr. Almand also attended Columbia Medical School.


Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Spring Hill Chapel, burial in Crest Lawn Memorial Park.


Surviving are his son, Conroy W. Almand of Pensacola, Fla., and brothers Judge Bond Almand of Atlanta and Dr. J. M. Almand, Sr. of Warner Robins.
