Fred was a 1954 graduate of Spaulding Institute in Peoria. After serving in the United States Army, he graduated from the Caterpillar apprenticeship program. He retired from the Caterpillar Mossville Plant in 1998, after 43 years of service.
Fred was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a humble man who always put his family and faith first. Fred was one of the good ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Sr. and Margaret (nee Kinsella) Schaub; two brothers, Richard and George Schaub; and a sister, Liz Gilles.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Teresa (nee Staab) Schaub; three children, Deneen (Steve) Carey of O'Fallon, MO, Joan (Roger) Hess of Red Bud, IL, and Lynn (Roland) Biehl of Smithton, IL; five grandchildren, Nathan and Joe Hasenstab, Megan Carey and Kinsey and Kaylin Biehl; three sisters, Louise Hasselbacher of Peoria, IL, Maggie (Carl) Mangold of Buda, IL, and Alice (Mike) Bergevin of Trivoli, IL; four brothers, Bill (Jean) Schaub of San Antonio, TX, Robert (Pat) Schaub of Germantown Hills, IL, Leo (Nancy) Schaub of Brimfield, IL, and Ed "Tony" (Noreen) Schaub of Brimfield, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
