HEMINGWAY - Philip P. Cockfield, 69, died Thursday, April 4, 1991, in a Florence hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today in Pamplico Church of God. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, will be in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery.
Mr. Cockfield was born in Hemingway, a son of the late Tristam A. and Anna Cribb Cockfield. He was retired from Wellman Inc. of Johnsonville and was a member of Pamplico Church of God. He attended Williamsburg County schools.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Singleton Cockfield of Hemingway; five sons, P.J. Cockfield of Conway and Wiley Cockfield, Lavern Cockfield, Roy Cockfield, and Alfred Cockfield, all of Hemingway; six daughters, Carolyn Purvis of Pamplico, Edna Earl Lee of Coward, Ruth George of Brittons Neck and Marilyn Ard, Nancy Lyerly and Ila Mae Byrd, all of Hemingway; a brother, Colon Cockfield of Maryville; a sister, Ella Hodge of Johnsonville; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
