Funeral Rites to Be Held Tuesday at Ree Grim Chapel
Mrs. Minnie Delle Henry, 73, one of King City's most highly respected citizens, died Sunday afternoon [September 14] at the local hospital a few hours after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. She had been in poor health for some time.
Born in Galva, Ill[inois], July 26, 1878 [1868], Mrs. Henry came to California with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Harrison, in 1875. The family lived in Hollister [and Hernandez].
In 1892, Mrs. Henry came to King City, at which time she was married to George P. Henry, who survives. For many years Mrs. Henry was a member of the local school board and was active in the affairs of the La Posa Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She was past worthy matron of the chapter and also past district deputy grand matron of the Star.
In addition to her husband, who has been local manager of the Southern Pacific Milling company here for the last 50 years, Mrs. Henry is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Roy Gleason [Phyllis Vivian Henry], of King City, and Mrs. J. H. Bastedo [Ethel May Henry], of Pacific Grove; two sons, [Philip] Wayne Henry, of San Luis Obispo, and Harold [George] Henry, of King City; three sisters, Miss Nina Harrison, of Salinas, Mrs. Arthur E. Cowell [Nellie M. Harrison], of Berkeley, and Mrs. Le Roy Harlan [Ada E. Harrison], of Riverdale; and four brothers, J. W. Harrison [John Walford Harrison], of King City, Fred E. Harrison [Frederick Earl Harrison], of Orange, Howard [Harold] Harrison, of Santa Maria, and Ralph R[ussell] Harrison, of Greenfield. There are also two grandchildren, Dorothy Bastedo and Doris Henry.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon [September 16] at 2 o'clock at the Ree C. Grim funeral chapel, followed by interment in the King City district cemetery.
If she had lived until November, Mr. and Mrs. Henry would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. For the last several years Mrs. Henry has been an honorary member of the King City Woman's club. She was one of the few persons left who had lived in King City for 50 years."
