Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Uncle to many. His way of life worked through the hard times of the country. The struggles must have been tremendous. Born in Germany,and migrated to the U.S. he lived in Chicago most of his life. A railroad man during the birth of the railroads.He did a brief stint with the U.S.Cavalry in Montana. A member of General Alfred Terry's command in June of 1876. General Terry's troops were dispatched the day after the Little Big Horn battle. They were the ones to find the carnage.He then returned to Chicago and the railroad. He was also a member of the Knights Templar and Freemasons.
