Robert Wayne "Bobby" Shealy, Sr., 81, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Christmas Day, 2021 after a short illness. Bobby was born on June 1, 1940 to the late James Willie and Addy Bouknight Shealy and lived in Batesburg for the last 71 years. He attended Batesburg-Leesville High School and Clemson University. Mr. Shealy retired from Union Switch and Signal after 38 years of service. He was very active in the community he was a member of the Civitan's Club, served as a Batesburg Town Councilman for 8 years and was Mayor of Batesburg from 1985-1991. He served on various councils and committees at St. John's UMC and most recently attending Celebration Church.
Bobby loved the outdoors, working in the yard, and caring for his garden. He enjoyed spending time and "checking on things" at his farm on Saluda Highway and at the lake house on Lake Murray. Mr. Shealy loved spending time with his family, watching Fox News, and Clemson Football.
Surviving include his wife of 59 years, Carolus Derrick Shealy; his children, Rob (Kristen) and Debbie (Michelle), 6 grandchildren, Thomas, Mason, Colin, Robert, Ethan, and Scotlyn; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Shealy; brothers-in-law, Fred Derrick (Roberta) and Randy Derrick; nephews and nieces, Don Westmoreland, David Westmoreland, Jane McCall, Sara Turner, Jimmy Shealy, and Ben Shealy.
He was predeceased by his brother, James Shealy; sister and brother-in-law, Willie and Jim Westmoreland; and sister-in-law, Kathy Derrick.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Historic B-L Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridge Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Celebration Church, 1765 Batesburg Hwy., Batesburg, SC 29006 or to St. John's UMC, 513 West Church Street, Batesburg, SC 29006.
