He served in the Air Force for seven years, and was stationed in England.
Mr. Sweeney worked as an electronics technician for Avista for 18 years.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Marilyn; a son, Paul Sweeney of Spokane; two brothers, Donald Batelaan of Spokane and Harold Sweeney of Arizona; a sister, Pauline Carthell of Tennessee; and two granddaughters.
