Robert Barton Jr., ten year old son of Mrs. Robert Barton, operator of a store at Cayuga, was killed at 10:00 o'clock Thursday night in front of his mother's store as he stepped from a school bus while returning from a basketball game. The youngster was struck by a truck as he alighted from the bus and died instantly. The truck was owned by M.R. Mitchell and driven by Jimmy Lafitte.
The fatal accident occurred just eleven months from the day his father died with pneumonia. The youngster was a grandson of Walter Barton, long time resident and well known citizen of Cayuga.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 Saturday with burial at Old Judson cemetery.
Survivors include, in addition to his mother, three brothers, Fowler Day Barton, Maurice Barton and Bobby Barton; one sister, Betty Ruth Barton, all of Cayuga.
