She was born January 18, 1924, daughter of Lester and Fannie (Corbett) Brown in Pembroke, ME and graduated Pembroke High School in 1942. She married Melvin Norton in June of 1942.
Elsie loved animals especially German Shepard dogs, which she owned all her life and fed the birds year-round. She worked for Davidson Textron in Dover, NH, retiring after 25 years. Her other jobs included cotton and woolen mills, MSAD 60 and Berwick Academy.
Elsie was well-known for her homemade crafts and participated at the local PTO Craft fair held in North Berwick until the age of 94.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 67 years, a brother, Ernest Brown, sister Geraldine Thompson, sons Douglas Norton and Wendell Norton and grandson Michael Norton.
