Ervin Hargrave, 90, of Carmi, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. He was born on June 30, 1931, the son of Baylus and Martha (Baird) Hargrave. Ervin proudly served his country in the United States Air force during the Korean War. He married Alva Lee Cross on April 12, 1952, and she preceded him in death on July 28, 2021. Ervin worked as a clerk at the Post Office in Carmi. He also raised livestock. Ervin attended First Christian church and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

Ervin is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Teresa) Hargrave of Carmi, IL., Gene (Rosemary Tarran) Hargrave of Lake Placid, FL., and Richard Lee (Rebecca) Hargrave of Shelbyville, IL.; grandchildren, Chance (Emily) Hargrave, Chelsea (Johnny) Duncan, Jonathan Hargrave, Melissa (Brian) Daugherty, Michelle Cox, Whitney (Mike) Zomer, Kortney (Monte) Brand, Karlie (Luke Libraro) Tarran, Victor (Anthony Hutchinson) Reader; great-grandchildren, Braxton Barden-Simmons, Layton (Madi) Cox, Daniel Zomer, and Hannah and Hunter Daugherty; great great-grandchildren, Margaux and Rudy Cox; and a sister, Marilyn Ackerman of Carmi, IL. He is preceded in death by his wife, Alva Lee Hargrave; his parents and siblings, Lester Hargrave, Chester Hargrave, and Reva Price.

Funeral services for Ervin Hargrave will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at Centerville Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Campbell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ervin's memory to We Love White County, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
