DeLyle Dance, 92, passed peacefully away Monday, November 22, 2021 at Tambree Meadows in Idaho Falls. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice of Idaho Falls.

Dee was born July 31, 1929 in Thomas, Idaho to Phillip Bingham and Celia Williams Dance. He was the youngest of 11 children. His father, Phillip, passed away when Dee was 14 years old. His older brothers and sisters, Keith, Theron, Margaret, Myron, Doyle, Rosetta, Arlo, Theo, Itha, Lorna, helped his mother raise him and worked along side him and taught him to work on their family farms. He was taught by them all the farming jobs, taking care of their farm animals and growing gardens with lots of fruits and vegetables. They also taught him to swim in the canal by their home. He loved being around the Dance family and their love with their amazing stories and hearty laughs.

Dee and his family were all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended schools in Rockford and Thomas. He played school and church basketball.

Dee met and married his high school sweetheart, Betty "Joan" Ropp on April 1, 1948 at the family home in Rockford. They had four children, Rick, Tamara, Clinton, and Shanna Ellen Dance, who lived only 72 days. They made their home in Thomas, Rockford, Blackfoot, Riverside, Pocatello, Twin Falls, and later Idaho Falls. They lived in the summer at many campgrounds. Dee and Joan also loved to square dance all around southeast Idaho.

DeLyle worked at Mountain States Construction, Horrocks and Monroc Ready Mix driving a concrete truck. He also worked driving potato trucks early on in his life and then after he was retired from Monroc. He was an all around handyman and could fix anything. He loved his gardens and harvesting the many vegetables with Joan and children.

You could often find Dee visiting everyone in Blackfoot and in the surrounding areas. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved camping with Joan, his children, and Joan's families, Ropps, Gays, Hales, and Obenchains. He instilled this in his children and grandchildren. He tried to make sure his family attended the Dance and Ropp family reunions. Keeping in touch with family was most important to him.

Once Dee retired, he and Joan bought a home in Quartzsite, AZ alongside his brother, Arlo and Lorraine, Joan's brother Garold and Juanita, Jerry and Karen Gay, Harry and Jesse Howell and his family friends. When Joan passed he sold his home in Riverside and moved to Blackfoot and then Idaho Falls so he could be closer to family. He was around his family all holidays, birthdays, and most every weekend.

DeLyle is survived by his three children, Rick D (Barb) Dance of Grapeview, WA, Tamara (Todd) Wood in Idaho Falls, and Clint J (Lisa) Dance in Middleton, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and their spouses and children.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2021 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends and relatives rom 5-7:00 p.m Sunday, December 5, 2021and again one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
