Born May 26, 1915, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Harry Franklin and Mabel Irene (Sparger) Britton.
Violet and Howard Ellsworth Vogt married, about 1931, in St. Clair County, Illinois and later divorced. She married John Paul Ford on January 19, 1954 in Madison County, Illinois. He died on January 22, 1973 in Staunton, Illinois. She then married Walter H. Schalk on September 23, 1973, and he died in 1984.
A member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights, Illinois, she served as a housemother at the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, Louisiana.
Survivors included a daughter and son-in-law, Judy Ann (Vogt) and Robert R. Watkins Jr. of Dorsey, Illinois; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Don Rendfeld of Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Rose Schwartz.
