Samuel T. Bowman

Friday at noon, December 31, Samuel T. Bowman, of Happy Valley, passed away, aged 92 years. The funeral was held Sunday at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Herbert Hays. The body was taken to San Diego, the old home of Mr. Bowman, for interment.

Samuel T. Bowman was born in Massillon, Ohio Feb 5th, 1846. After finishing school he came west to Iowa where he taught school for a number of years, and where he met and married Catherine Lauck in July 1872. To this union six sons and one daughter was born. He moved with his family to California in 1906, settling in National City. After the death of his wife in 1931 he moved to Newhall to make his home with his son, Delmer, where he passed away on December 31st, 1937. His life was devoted to Christian and temperance work. Five sons survive him, A. B. Bowman of San Diego, Frank Bowman of Oceanside, Sam Bowman of Santa Ana and Delmer of Newhall. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
