Annabelle Byrd (Pierson)

Annabelle Byrd, 80, passed away December 11, 2007, ending her long battle with lung disease. Born in Richmond, Indiana, she and her husband of 58 years, Charles, lived in Akron for several years before making their home in Berea, Kentucky for over 30 years. She returned to the area four years ago and resided with her daughter, Judith, in Tallmadge. She was a member of Lakeview Lighthouse Church in Akron. Annabelle was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Ronald; parents, Harold and Alice Pierson; and brother-in-law, Howard Byrd. She is survived by sons, William (Bonita) Byrd of Mogadore and Larry Byrd of Akron; daughters, Judith (Robert) Ashley of Tallmadge, Marilyn (Aaron) Clackler of Akron, and Loretta Halstead of Morristown, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Ethel Byrd of Greenback, Tennessee; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. followed by a short service at 8:00 p.m. by Pastor Dwayne Ray at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Graveside services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Berea Cemetery in Berea, Kentucky.
