Thomas Long Bottom wills to wife Lydia Bottom during her lifetime or widowhood land and plantation whereon I now live, 2 horses, cows, furniture, tools, hogs; to Rene Wallace, natural daughter of Catherine Edge, a cow and calf and $8.00, at my wife's death, all sold and, after debts paid, to go to my nephews William Bottom, Samuel Bottom and Malakiah Merriman.

Catherine Edge was the widow of Jeremiah Edge who had been in Hancock Co. for a number of years, Jeremiah Edge was one of the county citizens who participated in the earliest land lotteries.

James Cadenhead paid taxes on the 64 acres that belonged to Catherine in his role of administrator of Edge's estate. The tax digest for 1813 shows that Jeremiah Edge's widow Caty paid taxes on 116 acres of land and 4 slaves.

On Jan.2, 1817 James Sr. and Catherine married. That same year James Cadenhead paid taxes on 2 slaves and 113 acres of land on the Oconee River and as administrator of Jeremiah Edge's estate, he paid taxes on 64 acres.)
Around 1820 the family moved to Alabama.

1. WILLIAM (BILLY)2 EDGE was born in 1800 in GA. He died in 1854 in Barbour Co., AL. He married (1) UNKNOWN before 1824. She was born in 1798. She died in Mar 1825 in Alabama, USA. 2. JESSE L. EDGE was born about 1807 in Wilkes Co., GA. He died about 1887 in Walton Co., FL. He married (1) ELIZA CADENHEAD in 1849 in Unknown.
3. JOHN W. EDGE was born on 03 Feb 1808 in GA. He died before 1850 in FL. He married MARY WILLIAMSON on 03 Dec 1829.
4. MARY EDGE was born in 1810 in GA. She married SAMUEL HORTON.
