Sophie Metz, of Monroe CT passed away peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital on Friday June 7th, 2013 at the age of 90 surrounded by her loving family. Born May 13, 1923 in Bridgeport CT, Sophie was the daughter of the late Artemy and Natalie (Plescoch) Kish. After graduating from Bridgeport's Central High School in 1940, she went on to graduate from Butler Business School in December of that same year. First having employment at Remington Arms, in Bridgeport CT. After raising her three children, she went back to work for Rotair Industries and continued her education becoming a real-estate agent for Century 21 well into her seventies. She was the loving wife of 51 years to the late Edward Metz and mother to the late Diana Lynn Giannini and son in law Jeffrey Craig Giannini.She is survived by her children Cheryl Andrea Elrick and her husband Charles, of Clinton, and Gregory Russell Metz of Monroe, who lovingly cared for her in all stages of her life. Sophie is also survived by her grandchildren Dr. Kristin Amy Giannini (Dennis) of South Windsor, Jason Craig Giannini (Laura) of Ashland MA, Elizabeth Alexandria Elrick and Brendan Charles Elrick of Clinton. Sophie was also the great grandmother to Jeffrey Edward and Lilliana May Madairy. Sophie is also survived by her sister Mary Kish Mirfin of Milford as well as her loving niece Dennise M. Pate (Richard) and nephew and godson Frank C. Mirfin. She was predeceased by her siblings; Helen Kish, Alice Kish and Peter Kish. Friends are invited to attend the Rite of Burial on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at 11am in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport (on the Trumbull Line) with Archpriest Steven Belonik officiating followed by interment in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe.
