Mrs. Susan Axemaker, 95, Holy Spirit Retirement Home, died Tuesday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Monsignor Richard V. Sweeney will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. today in Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mrs. Axemaker, the former Susan Hettinger, was born March 13, 1890, at Robey, near White Lake, S. D. She married William Robert Axemaker April 16, 1912, at White Lake. They came to Sioux City in 1925 from Mitchell, S. D. He died Feb. 21, 1977, in Sioux City. She had resided in the retirement home the last year. Mrs. Axemaker was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Alvena Langley, Mrs. Margaret Mertz, Mrs. Matthew (Dorothy) Boyle and Mrs. Arlene White, all of Sioux City, and Mrs. Clayton (Marcella) Mustapha of South Sioux City; 21 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
