Maurice L. Palmer
Aug. 1, 1918 - May 31, 2001

Maurice L. Palmer, 82, formerly of N. Wilber St., South Bend, died Thursday afternoon in Cardinal Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, in his sleep.

Maurice worked for office engineers for 16 years and retired in 1982 from the Notre Dame Library after 3 years.

He was born August 1, 1918 in South Bend to Lewis A. and Isabelle (Seifert) Palmer who preceded him in death along with 2 brothers, Paul and Gerald Palmer.

On Sept. 8, 1945 in Holy Cross Catholic Church he married Esther Anna Breitenstein who died Nov. 24, 1995.

Surviving are his children: John F. Palmer and Lewis A. (Laura) Palmer of South Bend and 4 grandchildren: Christine Palmer, Michael Palmer and Brian Palmer and John Charles Lavelle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holy Cross Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 today in HICKEY Funeral Home 3516 E. Jefferson. (219) 289-1000, where a Rosary will be said at 6p.m.

Maurice was a founding member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a graduate of Central High School, class of 1938 where he served as drum major and had interest in bands and marching bands.
