Larry A. Cardwell age 82 of Beardsley, MN passed away Monday, November 1, 2021 at Sanford Wheaton Hospital in Wheaton, MN.

Funeral Services will be Monday, November 8, at 2:00 PM at Holden Lutheran Church in rural Beardsley, MN. The service will be live streamed on the Eggers Funeral Home Facebook page.

Burial will be in the Holden Lutheran Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the August Altheide American Legion Post 302 of Beardsley. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be: Justin Kleindl; Thomas German; Travis German; Trey German; Leland Nelson; Chad Boothby; Curt Cardwell and Tyler Cardwell.

Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the church.

Larry Allen Cardwell was born December 18, 1938 to Albert Franklin and Ethel (Fitz) Cardwell in Sisseton, SD. He attended school in Browns Valley and graduating from Browns Valley High School in 1958. On January 12, 1962 Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Power Boat Operator. He was honorably discharged December 10, 1963.

On December 22, 1962 Larry was united in marriage to Joann Karen Nelson at Holden Lutheran Church in rural Beardsley. Larry worked for Jim's Body Shop and Salvage Yard in Browns Valley. In the early 70s, Larry was employed at RV Ford in Wheaton. He started his own shop in Beardsley in 1974 and operated it until 2000. Working on cars and doing auto body work was always very joyous to Larry. During this time he also worked for Power Sentry in Wheaton and Sisseton and at Woodland Cabinetry in Sisseton. Joann passed away in January 1982. In June 2020 Larry made his home in the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton.

Larry was a member of Holden Lutheran Church; the Beardsley Fire Department and the August Altheide American Legion Post 302 of Beardsley.

Larry enjoyed playing cards. He loved going to Bobby Jo's to visit, to watch others play dice and to enjoy the wonderful meals provided to him. He especially loved to pick on the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his children: Bruce (Laura) Cardwell of Beardsley; Brenda (Doug) Kleindl of Graceville, MN; Brent (Leann) Cardwell of Wheaton and Bobbi Jo German of Wheaton; grandchildren: Samantha; Breeyon; Tyler; Justin; Megan; Whitney; Alaina; Amber; Thomas; Travis; Ashlee and Trey; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters: Faye Webster of Ortonville, MN and Shirley Steen of Sisseton; brothers-in-law: Fran Boothby of Beardsley and Steve Nelson of Clinton, MN; and sister-in-law: Sue Nelson of Beardsley.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife: Joann; son-in-law: Trent German; parents: Albert and Ethel; stepmother: Jane Cardwell; two infant granddaughters; one infant grandson; brothers: Delton; Delmer; Elden and Gary; sisters: Phyllis and Alberta; a brother-in-law: Jerome Nelson; and sisters-in-law: Linda Teske and Mary Jane Boothby.
