My uncle died of cardiac failure due to severe arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease with cardiomegaly. I have reviewed his death certificate to confirm this information. His father was Marvin E. Burnes, Sr. and his mother's name was Grace Clement Burnes. Wiley was a civilian secretary, working for the United States Department of Defense at the time of his death. He was married (1972) to Thyra Lulow Burnes. They had no children.

When Wiley died in 1990 I took my dad by plane to California for the funeral.

I know very little about Wiley. Dad always said that when Wiley left Rome as a youth, he never returned. The one time I met him was in 1979 when his mother died. I went to the Atlanta airport to pick him up. Upon seeing him for the first time I called him "uncle" Wiley. He replied, "I'm not your uncle." He was a strange man. . .
