Mrs. Anna Louis Derry Ray, 81, of Frederick, died on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Norman E. "Dutch" Ray, who died on Dec. 22, 2004.

Born in Buckeystown on March 10, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Edith L. Hawn Derry.

Mrs. Ray had worked for many years for Price's Electric in Frederick. She was an active member of the Buckeystown United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Independent Hose Company. She loved to cook, read and work in the flower gardens in her yard.

Surviving her is one son, Robert L. Ray and wife Rose Marie of Frederick; one grandson, Richard S. Ray of Frederick; one brother, James A. Derry and wife Cleo of Salt Springs, Fla.; two sisters, Myrtle M. Whipp and Jane Keller and husband Charles all of Frederick; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Derry, Karl Derry and Robert Derry; and two sisters, Ruth Osmann and Mildred Derry.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 3 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Linda W. Healy, pastor of Buckeystown United Methodist Church, will officiate. Internment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Clark, Todd Huffer, Al Treanor, Terry Orrence, Ellis Roberson and Bernard Duvall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buckeystown United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 399, Buckeystown, Md. 21717.
