NORMA RUTH BURYM (nee MACHEL) Peacefully, and with all her family at her side, our mother passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2007. She was born in 1935 in Whitemouth, Manitoba to Gustav and Augusta Machel, the fifth of eight children. Mom grew up on the farm and then moved to Winnipeg for high school. She met Dad at a dance on Sherbrook Street in October 1959. By Christmas they were engaged, and then married on May 21, 1960. At this time, Mom worked at the General Hospital in the bookkeeping department. She worked there until they started their family in December 1963. After that, Mom changed careers to what she would regard as the most rewarding career of all, that of a Mom. She then re-entered the paying work force in 1980 when she joined The Bay, working in the downtown Coffee Mug Restaurant for 15 years. Mom was predeceased by her parents, her sister Irene, brother Alfred, and brother-in-law Eric. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Metro (Matt), her daughter Marianne (Ron), her sons, Mark (Jen) and Craig (Lisa), and her seven grandchildren, Abby, Brock, Julia, Caden, Jacob, and newborn twins Ryan and Eric. She is also survived by her sisters, Mardie, Margie, Rosie, Ellie, her brother Eric, sister-in-law Ellie, brother-in-law Ivor and their families. We would like to thank Dr. Johnston and nurse Erin at Cancer Care for the wonderful care she received in the past few years. Special thanks also to the staff of GA4 and MICU at Health Science Centre for the loving care she received in her final weeks. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street, Winnipeg. Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to the Cancer Society. You will always be in our thoughts and forever in hearts. We love you and miss you. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
