NOTE: Some people get this Mary Ann Cyrus Nash confused with her daughter, Mary Ann Nash, who died in 1856.

Enoch Cyrus m. Rebecca Cook 31 Aug. 1816 in Grainger Co., Tenn. His father, Nimrod Cyrus, posted bond for him.

In 1846, Mary, her husband William Houston Nash, their children and her parents and siblings trekked to California, then part of Mexico. They settled in the Napa Valley.

Mary's paternal grandparents were Nimrod & Frances Cyrus. Nimrod was b. ca 1770 in NC and Frances ca 1769 in Stokes Co., NC. Nimrod Cyrus is listed in the 1790 census as living in Stokes Co., NC. There was 1 male w/spouse & 2 dghtrs.

Nimrod is recorded being in Surry Co., NC in 1781. Nimrod and his family were in Grainger Co., Tenn. by 1797 when son Enoch was born. Nimrod paid taxes in Grainger Co., Tenn. in 1806. The family is listed in the 1810 U.S. Census for Grainger Co., TN: Nimrod Cyrus family has 2 males 0-10, 1 male 16-26, and one 45 yrs or over. Females: 2 females 0-10, 2 females 10-16, and one female 26-45.

It is rumored that Nimrod moved to Victoria Co. TX in Nov. 1839 with a William Cyrus. Texas was then a Republic.
