Monroe M. "Bud" Roden, born 25 February 1929 in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas. Son of Monroe Madison Roden and Nelle Knight. Attended Calallen High School in Corpus Christi. Served in the United States Army during the Korean War. First married Ocie Ann Mims in 1952. Children of this marriage were, Monroe Jr., James Russell, Susan Ann and Terry Lee.
A man of many talents and interest, he pursued various occupations until deciding that Rainbow Bakery offered the most opportunity. He was awarded "salesman of the year" for his outstanding work. After his career with Rainbow he became manager of the Charro Drivein Movie Theater in Brownsville, Texas and later was transferred to Dallas in 1964 to manage the Buckner Drivein Theater.
Always attempting to better himself, he studied to become a licensed electrician and pursued this trade for the rest of his working career. After his retirement he managed his own electrical business for several years.
Bud second married Janice Areta McKee (Prasifka) in 1976, his wife of over 45 years. He was a loving husband and father to her children, Madeline, Freddie and Jeanette.
Bud had many various hobbies. First and foremost was his love of motorcycles, owning over 19 during his lifetime. He was a lover of the outdoors and spend many weeks traveling on his motorcycle and "camping out". A bird lover, he built beautiful birdhouses, several of which won prizes at the State Fair of Texas and other competitions. A talented woodworker, he built lovely wooden toys and again was awarded recognition at the State Fair of Texas.
"Mr. Fixit" was definitely his name. Due to his innate ability to "fix any and everything" he was indispensable to friends and family alike. If anyone in the family had a problem they could depend on Bud to "fix it".
Devout in his faith, serving as adorer of the Blessed Sacrament weekly and a faithful parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
