Paul H. Reed, 88, of Orrville, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at his hone in Orrville after a long period of declining health.
Paul was born on Sept. 3, 1928, in Orrville to the late Robert and Lillie (Plumber) Reed, attended Orrville City Schools and served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he received two Bronze Stars.
He married Ada M. Cline on Aug. 23, 1953, in Indiana, and was a machinist for Westinghouse Corporation in Orrville for 34 years, retiring in 1989.
Paul was a member of Church of Christ in Orrville and American Legion Post 282 in Orrville. In his younger years, he loved fishing and boating at Atwood Lake. More recently, he enjoyed gardening, bird and nature watching, playing cards and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Ada Reed; a daughter, Cheryl (Larry) Meherg of Lakeville; a son-in-law, Frank Kormos of Massillon; grandchildren, Megan (Eric) Stover of Ashland, Aaron (Kirstin) Meherg of Perrysville, Matthew Kormos of Masillon, and Melanie Meherg of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a great-granddaughter, Marina Meherg; sisters, Betty Tassiff and Norma Reed, both of Massillon; and numerous nieces and nephews; .
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Kormos; sisters, Naomi Werntz, Mary Stoll, Dorothy Fisher and Virginia Dominick; and brothers, Richard, Robert and Raymond Reed.
Services will be Thursday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home, 512 E. Oak St., Orrville, with pastor Don Meager officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville, where military rites will be observed.
