A resident of Baton Rouge since 1942, Stella was born in Stringer and grew up in Canton. She served her country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. She worked many years for the Louisiana Division of Employment Security. She was a long-time member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church. She enjoyed time spent with family, traveling, and dancing.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-one years, Henry "Hank" Baxter; her children, Wanda Gayle, Kathy, Becky Ann, and Mike; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mayo Charles "Chuck" Futrell; and a daughter, Janet.
