Alfred was born in South Carolina and raised in Monroe, North Carolina. He moved to New York City as a young man and met his wife Andrea Massey in 1970. Alfred worked as a bus driver for most of his adult life and he loved every minute of it. He worked as a school bus driver and driver for NY Waterway in New York City. He loved the relationships he formed with his co-workers, students, and everyday commuters. He retired from bus driving in 2012.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Andrea Massey, daughter, Jennifer Massey and son, Calvin Allen. Alfred was born to parents William and Blanch Massey. Alfred was predeceased by siblings Donny Massey, Willie Mae Stevens, Johnny Massey and James Massey. Alfred is survived by siblings Clara Mae Thompson, Pearlie Mae Massey, Bobby Massey, Thomas Massey, and Lilly Victoria Massey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in North Carolina.
The family will be present on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 10 AM to 1 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home - 732 Yonkers Avenue - Yonkers, NY 10704. A Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home at 1PM. Following the service, Al will be laid to rest at Ferncliff Cemetery - 280 Secor Road - Hartsdale, NY 10530.
