Husband of Mary GRAVES

George TROUTT was born in either 1771 or 1776 (family and military gravestones disagree), perhaps in Botetourt County, VA, the son of Jacob Clemons TROUT and Barbara PRICE, grandson of Hans Nicholas TRAUT, and great grandson of the immigrant, Johann Wendel Georg TRAUT (1689-1760) of Paradise Twp, Lancaster, PA, who was born in Kleinfischlingen (near Landau), Electoral Palatinate, Holy Roman Empire (now in Südliche Weinstraße, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany).

In his early 20's, George moved with his father (his mother may have passed away by this time) from Botetourt County, VA to Knox County, TN. His father, Jacob Clemons TROUT, died within just a few years of their arrival.

George married Mary GRAVES (1777-1826) on 14 Jan 1801 in Knox County, TN.

At about age 37, George TROUTT severed in the War of 1812 as a private in Company "E" of the Tennessee Militia, and was a father of four during the time of his service.

George spent his remaining years farming his lands midway between Corryton and Mascot, Knox County, TN. His wife, Mary, had died (age 49) on 9 Sep 1826, and at his own passing, George (age about 76) was buried at her side some 26 years later.

George's family stone and military stone are side by side.
