James O. Farrell

SHIRLEY - James O. Farrell, 72, of Shirley died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday (April 15, 1999) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

His funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, the Rev. James Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, with military rites accorded by the Carl S. Martin Post American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Farrell was born Feb. 14, 1927, at Rogersville, Tenn., a son of James and Cornealia Ann Hickman Ferrell. He married Sharon Jeckel Sept. 29, in 1961,at Rockford. She survives.
Other survivors include five daughters, Sue (Robert) Hafley, LeRoy; Emily Ann (James) Malcolm, Normal; Vicky (Charles) Jenkins, Becker, Minn.; Julie (Lenny) Bratlien, Williston, N.D.; and Debbie (Billy) Lower, Shirley; five sons, the Rev. James (Sue) Ferrell and Robert (Kay) Ferrell, both of LeRoy; Danny (Leola) Ferrell, Kappa; Jim Ferrell, McLean; and Brian Farrell, Bloomington; one sister, Lena Linkous, Mount Carmel, Tenn.; 30 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

His parents; one son, Rusty Cook; three brothers' two sisters; and two grandchildren preceded him in death.

Mr. Farrell served in both the U.S. Navy and later in the U.S. Army. He was a self-employed painting contractor and a member of God's Church.
