Christine Beatrice Sponer Rhea, age 88, of Hattieville, Arkansas, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021. She was born September 18, 1933, in St. Vincent, a daughter of Alfred and Theresia Pfeifer Sponer. She was the widow of Leo Garland Rhea, and a retired hairdresser. Christine was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar Society, Charismatic Prayer Group, Light in Darkness.
Survivors include her sons, Frank (Cathy) Rhea of Jacksonville, and Leo "Tub" (Cheryl) Rhea Jr. of St. Vincent; two daughters, Janis (James) Wells of St. Vincent and Melinda (Kenneth) Tanner of Morrilton; sisters, Em Sponer of St. Vincent, Annie Andrews of Center Ridge, and Mary (Ken) Taylor of St. Vincent; ten grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Jim Burnie and Deacon Steve Mallett officiating. Rosary will be 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, prior to Mass at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery.
