Lester is the son of Porter Coolidge and Polly Jones Coolidge. He served in the 76th PA Inf, Co. H. He is listed as being taken prisoner of war Aug 16, 1864 at Deep Bottom Run, VA. No other information from the POW camp, but his mother applied for a pension in 1866. The place of his death/burial are unknown. It is interesting to note that there is a Civil War memorial/flag holder on the family plot in Greenfield Cemetery, Little Hope, Erie Co., PA, but no other members of the family served in the Civil War.
