Leon Baer Dies in San Jose Following Stroke
Leon Baer, 69, a native of Sonora, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Baer, pioneer residents of this city, passed away at the home of his son, Don Baer, in San Jose, August 31st. Several weeks before he suffered a stroke and continued to fall in health until death came to relieve him of his helpless condition. Leon, as we old timers addressed him, was always good natured and one whose company you would enjoy. During his recent visit to Sonora, at which time he was in excellent health, he reminisced with his old friends. He was chock-full of anecdotes, and he and those he met enjoyed his visit.
Funeral services were held in San Jose which were attended by his brother, Julius E. Baer and wife, and two sisters, Mrs. Betsy Ball and Miss Rebecca Baer, of Sonora, besides whom he leaves his son mentioned and a daughter, Mrs. Aveline Brown of San Francisco.
Cremation followed the services and his ashes were deposited in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in this city.
Marriage Date: 8 Feb 1892
Marriage Place: Fresno Co, California, USA
Their son, Don Farley Baer, was born December 1, 1893, in Bakersfield, California. Their daughter, Avelene, was born in July 25, 1895, in California. MEMORIAL ID 230607063
